The most powerful aspect of this documentary is the fact that it emphasizes the power and importance of the youth. The fact that the 4 men "didn't trust anyone over 18" speaks volumes about the generation gap that existed during the Civil Rights era. The youth wanted a part in the movement and as the college students went back home for the summer, we saw the high school students stepping up - just as the young people of Central High in Little Rock did.
We learned more of this gap in philosophy and strategies later in the 1960's with Stokely Carmichael (now known as Kwame Toure -R.I.P.)in the early days of SNCC.
This is a gap that unfortunately still exists today in many circles of African American leadership.
